Mr. Paul W. Eskew

Mr. Paul William Eskew, 73, of 178 Harris St., Midville, entered into

rest Friday, April 25, 2003, at Burke Medical Center. Funeral services

were held Monday, April 28, at 2 p.m. at Midville Baptist Church, with

the Revs. Jerry Byrd and M.F. Price officiating. Burial followed the service

at Parkers Methodist Church Cemetery in Bartow.

Mr. Eskew was born in Washington County, but had lived in Burke County

most of his life. He was farm manager of DiLane Plantation, Waynesboro,

for over 15 years and also worked at Magruder Plantation in Midville.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He had many friends

and never met a stranger; he loved everybody.

Survivors include his wife, Marie B. Eskew of Midville; a daughter, Mary

E. Glass of Swainsboro; a granddaughter, Jennifer F. Fortner of Swains-boro;

four brothers, Roy Eskew, Julian Eskew, Fred Eskew and Charles Eskew,

all of Waynes-boro; a sister, Dorothy Davis of Savannah; and a number

of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Gary Johnson, Al Smith, Bobby Posey, Kenneth Johnson,

Sheriff Greg Coursey, Mac Bradley and Dean Johnson. Honorary pallbearers

were the deacons of Midville Baptist Church, R.E. Rollins, Dr. Harvey

Sanders, Dr. Larry Jackson, Doug Cates and Tammie Chance. The family received

friends Sunday, April 27, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Lubar

Mrs. Elizabeth J. “Betty” Lubar, 82, of Sardis entered into rest

Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Keysville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 28, at 4:30 p.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy

Funeral Home Chapel, Waynesboro, with the Revs. Yonce Lively and Karen Ziegler

officiating. Interment was at Sardis Cemetery. Mrs. Lubar was a native of

Burke County, but had lived in Washington, D.C., prior to moving back to

Sardis 27 years ago, and retired as a waitress from the restaurant business.

She was a Methodist and a member of Sardis United Methodist Church. Mrs.

Lubar is preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Lubar; her parents, Andrew

C. Johnson and Ella Mae Johnson; two sisters, Lucille Turner and Dorothy

Dant; and two brothers, Zeke and Buddy Johnson.

Survivors include four nieces, Linda Crews, Carolyn Dixon, Brenda Harvey

and Hazel Hurst; two nephews, Donald Baker and Richard Johnson; 23 grandnieces

and grandnephews; and 24 great-grandnieces and great- grandnephews. Pallbearers

were Jerry John-son, Glenn Odom, Steve Cook, Craig Harvey, Ralph Odom and

Grady Dixon.

The family received friends Sunday, April 27, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral

home.

Miss Sara Richbourg

Miss Sara Alice Richbourg, 79, of Brentwood Terrace, entered into rest

Saturday, April 26, 2003 at Burke Medical Center. Graveside services were

held Tuesday, April 29, at 11 a.m. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church Cemetery

in Mitchell, Ga. Mrs. Richbourg was a native of Washington County but

had lived most of her life in Burke County. She was a Baptist by faith

and a member of Sardis Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her

parents, John L. Richbourg Sr. and Emma H. Richbourg. Survivors include

a brother, John L. Richbourg Jr. of Waynesboro; two sisters, Lily R. Joyner

of Macon and Deanne R. Jenkins of Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Sunday, April 27, from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral

home.

Lucille Turner

Mrs. Susan Lucille Turner, November 8, 1925 to April 21, 2003, was a native

of Burke County and a longtime resident of Effingham County. Funeral services

were held Thursday, April 24, at 4 p.m. at Rincon Baptist Temple, with

the Revs. Roger Browher and Bill Boyd officiating. Interment was in Effingham

Memorial Garden.

Mrs. Turner was a member of Rincon Baptist Temple, a homemaker and an

avid fisherman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin (Pete)

Lovins Turner and a daughter, Deborah Yvonne Turner. Survivors include

a daughter, Brenda Harvey and husband Wayne Harvey of Rincon; a granddaughter,

Nicole Rahn and husband Jason Rahn of Springfield; a grandson, Michael

Harvey and wife Lorrie Harvey of Jesup; four great-granddaughters, McKenzie

Rahn, Michaela Rahn, MaryGrace Rahn, all of Springfield and Shelby Surrency

of Jesup; a sister, Elizabeth Lubar of Sardis; nieces, nephews and a host

of cousins, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Troy Beasley,

Ronnie Beasley, Truman Gordy, Gary Hendrix, Billy Wilson, Chris Hucks,

Jimmy Morris and James Dasher. Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral

Homes, Effingham Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.Mr. Jason Chavous

Mr. Jason Chavous, 30, of Montgomery, Ala., entered into rest Sunday,

April 27, 2003, at his residence. Memorial services will be held today

(April 30), at 2 p.m. at Montgomery Memorial Chapel. Mr. Chavous, a native

of Burke County, moved to Montgomery 10 years ago. He was a 1991 graduate

of Burke County High School.

Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice.
